Allison Schmitt trains with Michael Phelps at the North Baltimore Aquatic Club and earned her spot on the team by winning the 200-m and 400-m freestyles at the U.S. Olympic trials, which qualified her for two relays as well. Always ready with a joke and a laugh, the smiley “Schmitty,” as Phelps calls her, has lightened the mood on many days for the more intense Phelps.
