Italian bobsledder William Frullani has tested positive for a banned performance enhancing drug and has been ejected from the Winter Olympics in Sochi, the Italian Olympic Committee announced Friday.
“The athlete was immediately dropped from the team and left the Olympic Village,” the team said. Frullani tested positive for the drug dymetylpentylamine on February 18, NBC News reports. Frullani, 34, was the breaker on the Italian bobsled team and will be replaced by Samuele Romanini.
The German Olympic Committee also announced Friday that one its athletes, who has not been named, tested positive for doping.
