In Beijing, Tweddle missed out on a bronze medal on the uneven bars by just 0.025 points. In London, she’ll have the home crowd behind her—and an upgraded double twisting double back dismount to boot. During qualifications she posted the highest score on her specialty. “I’ve thought about this competition and this bars routine for so long,” she said afterwards. “To produce my best score this Olympic cycle in qualifying, it couldn’t be any better.” Actually, it could. If she repeats that performance in the finals, she stands a good chance of walking away with gold.
