The Olympics don’t have a lock on opening glitches. When the U.S. got a chance to host the World Cup in 1994, a skeptical global fan base might have questioned the validity of the Americans’ putting on a soccer tournament but surely not their ability to stage a show. Think again. Singer Diana Ross didn’t reign supreme, as she missed what must have been the world’s largest goal with a penalty kick from just a few yards away. As the goal split in two and fell apart, her shot sailed way wide. At least she nailed the singing part.
