In January 2014, golfer Rory McIlroy and tennis star Caroline Wozniacki announced their engagement, with McIlroy sharing the news on Twitter. He included a photo of the ring, which, in terms of size, just so happens to fall right in the middle of a golf ball and a tennis ball.
Wozniacki has already represented her native Denmark at the summer Olympics, and McIlroy will most likely represent his native Ireland at the 2016 Games, when golf will make a comeback as an Olympic event for the first time since 1904. McIlroy caused quite a stir when he said he was interested in representing Great Britain rather than Ireland, but it seems almost certain that he’ll be playing for the latter.
McIlroy said his engagement gave him “stability.” Let’s just hope planning a wedding doesn’t interfere with preparing for Rio.
